Kurash, a 3,500-year-old wrestling tradition from Central Asia is now a global sport with 130+ nations accepting it as a marshal sport. Standing combat, no leg grabs, and the perfect throw that decides the win. India took up Kurash in the 1990s and shone at the 2018 Asian Games with silver and bronze.
It is a form of upright jacket wrestling native to Uzbekistan, practiced since ancient times.
It is an utmost proud moment for our college that in the recently held state level sports event held at Indapur in Pune District, our student Ms. Harisiddhi Girase of Department of Applied Science admitted to the Civil Engineering stream, performed exceptionally well winning the Gold Medal in the marshal sport of Kurash. She has further secured the position to perform at the National Level sports meet scheduled to be held in January 2026 at Patna, Bihar.
We whole-heartedly congratulate her for the achievement and wish her all the very best for her future performances.
We also commend the good work and able guidance of our Coach and Sports in charge, Prof. Manoj Chaudhari for his un-quivering efforts towards keeping the students physically fit and motivated to participate and win in such events.
